This is the second time that I have dined in the upstairs area of Beer DeLuxe in Fed Square. This time we were two couples enjoying a quick meal before heading over to the P!nk concert at the Rod Laver Arena.
The restaurant was busy but not packed. We were seated near a window with a view (sort of) out towards Flinder’s Street. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the background music was just low enough that we could have a conversation without shouting. (4/5)
The service was friendly and the waiter knew his stuff. He made some recommendations for food and drinks. He diligently cleared the table and checked back on us to see if the food was good and ask whether we needed more drinks. (5/5)
The two guys opted for the burger with the lot (which was on special with chips and a beer), while the girls picked a scallop salad. The burger was delicious – pattie, cheese, bacon, egg, tomato and lettuce. The scallop salad was rather disappointing and a little tasteless. (4/5)
As the burger was on special at $15 for burger with the lot, chips and a beer, this was excellent value. This would normally set you back about $30 which is pretty pricey. The scallop salad was $15 and was 5 scallops, some lettuce and dressing. (3/5)
As mentioned previously, I have been here before and I would return again if the burger special was on. The food is a little pricey, but that is to be expected in the tourist precinct of Melbourne but they have a huge range of local and imported beers which is a major attraction for a beer lover like myself. 84%
