Appetito, The Rocks (Sydney) – $$$

LoveItThe pizza in this place was so good that we visited twice in 2 days!

We arrived around 8pm and were seated in a back courtyard. Inside was packed but the noise level was still reasonable. There was no music outside and the lighting was enough for us to see each other and have a conversation. It was a little chilly outside with no heaters turned on. (4/5)

The service was excellent. All the staff were Italian and the attention to detail was fantastic. Our beer glasses were never empty and the waiters were friendly and had a laugh and a joke with us. (4.5/5)

The food was fantastic! I had the best Italian pizza that I have ever had outside of Italy – the crust was thin but not too crispy that it cracked, there was the perfect amount of topping and cheese and there was no need to add salt or pepper. One of my eating companions had a pasta (seafood linguine) which he couldn’t finish because of the large portion size and amount of seafood in the bowl! Fantastic! With regards to drinks, we drank Peroni all night which wasn’t very exciting, but it suited the occasion. (5/5)

The food was excellent but $26.50 for a pizza for one person is very pricey! Especially considering that the seafood linguine was only $2.00 more and much more filling. Pizzas cost next to nothing to make too! The affogato was delicious too. (3/5)

Overall, this place was really good – so much so that we came back the next day for lunch. The lunch was an even better experience as there was a special on – a regular pizza (off the menu) plus a glass of Italian red for $20! Beat that! 88%

I had the Capricciosa Pizza for main and a Virgin Affogato for dessert and a few beers.

To keep things simple, we split the bill 6 ways and it was $65 per person including a 10% tip. I had a main, a dessert and drinks while others had starters and coffees too.
