I popped out for a quick lunch with one of my work colleagues today. He promised me a good curry – he wasn’t wrong!
Inside and out, this place isn’t much to look at. It reminded me of an English greasy spoon – small tables with plastic table cloths, TV in the corner, the obligatory Indian music playing. The sweets from the sub continent on display in the counter fridges looked ‘interesting’, but we never tried them, so I won’t comment. (3.5/5)
The restaurant wasn’t too busy when we arrived (although people were queuing by the time we left), so service was instantaneous. We were seated at a table by the window, a bottle of cold water and 2 clean glasses were dropped off along with a bowl containing 2 papadums and a sweet, spicy black sauce (it tasted like plum sauce with chili in it) (4/5)
With both ordered the Thali lunch special and we weren’t disappointed! I couldn’t finish mine, so the portion size is more than big enough for lunch. The special included a curry of your choice off the menu, rice, raiti, a vegetable curry (Chef’s choice) and a large naan or roti bread (customer’s choice). I had a chicken tikka masala (mild) and it was perfect for my taste buds. Spicy enough to knock the breath out of me on the first mouthful, but not so spicy that I had no tastebuds after lunch. (4.5/5)
Talk about value for money! The thali lunch special is only $10.00 and as mentioned previously, I couldn’t finish it! (5/5)
I would definitely go back for another curry and I would also recommend this place to friends! (83%)
